ASCLS member Tim Randolph, faculty at St. Louis University's program in Clinical Laboratory Science, and ASCLS Region VI Director, has been serving the people of Haiti for the past decade, traveling twice a year to help bring lab testing supplies and training to a number of clinics on the island. He had just returned from a winter visit a few days before the earthquake struck. The earthquake relief efforts that Randolph World Ministries, Inc. launched last week have gotten a huge response, according to Tim. Within the first 48 hours of the earthquake he was asked to do 9 media interviews on TV, radio, newspapers and magazines. Tim is collecting supplies and financial contributions, see his website for more information. Kudos to Tim, who is providing the face of American clinical lab professionals to the people in Haiti and again to the folks in his own city.

THE LITTLE HOSPITAL AND LABORATORY THAT COULD! COMING TO THE RESCUE!
For the past 10 years I have worked to build a new laboratory and educate technicians in proper techniques at the Hopital Sacre Coeur (HSC--Sacred Heart Hospital) also referred to as CRUDEM (Center for Rural Development of Milot) in Milot Haiti just outside Cap Haitien in the north. Going from 45 beds in 2000, and 60 in 2009 to now over 300 is overwhelming. The critical earthquake victims are helicoptered in from PaP for orthopedic surgeries, amputations, burn and crush treatment so there are great needs for everything. We do hundreds of venipunctures every day and so right now we need donations of 3 ml purple and red top vacutainers and microtainers.
There are many children and babies among them and now a large children's ward. If you could help, please let me know and I will direct you as to where and how to send the tubes. DO NOT send them tubes directly to me...they need to go to a shipping company or with volunteers going down.
We are also in desperate need of funds to purchase bedding for hurting people to lay their heads...obviously we have run out of beds and bedding. Bedding is purchased in bulk in south Florida and put directly in a shipping container, thus saving ground shipping costs.
Here's how to contribute for 501 tax deduction purposes: donate on line https://www.chmiowa.org/donate.cfm and designate Haiti Fund.
OR Send check to Congregation of Humility of Mary Haiti Fund or abbreviated-- CHM Haiti Fund. Send to CHM Haiti Fund, 820 West Central Park, Davenport, IA 52804.
This is my religious community and they give the donations directly to me to purchase the bedding.
OR you can send directly to me… no 501 status! And I do take cash!
