My name is Kristi Enerson and I am the new 2010-2011 ASCLS-MN State President.
I want to welcome you to our website. Both the state and national website are a wealth of information about who we are as an organization. If you are not a member, please take a few moments to explore the many benefits of being an ASCLS member. To become a member click on the following link: http://www.ascls.org/membership/index.asp
Whether you are a long time member of ASCLS or just want to learn more about us, I think it is important to understand our core values:
· Promoting the value of the profession to healthcare and the public;
· Uniting the profession to speak with one voice;
· Advocating on behalf of the profession;
· Promoting professional independence;
· Enhancing quality standards and patient safety;
· Ensuring workplace safety;
· Providing professional development opportunities;
· Promoting expanded roles and contributions of clinical laboratory professionals to the healthcare team;
· Increasing the diversity in the profession and expanding the voice and role of under-represented individuals and groups.
I want to encourage everyone, both members and non-members to become involved in ASCLS. Not all involvement has to be elaborate. Start small. It not only benefits you as an individual- it benefits those who are in your profession and those for whom you really work- the patients. Play a part and see what a difference you can make! It is exciting to know what the laboratory community can do when we work together.
I am pleased to be serving the members of the society as its President over the next year.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about our society at enersonk@centracare.com.

Thanks again for checking us out!
Last year, ASCLS was awarded a grant from the Abbott Fund to create a video that would introduce high school students to clinical laboratory science. The video ran on Facebook as part of a Labs are Vital project on that web site.
The recruitment videos are now available for downloading on the ASCLS web site at http://www.ascls.org under Careers.
Please take advantage of this unique opportunity to help introduce high school students to our profession.
