Call For Volunteers

2009 Clinical Laboratory Collaborative

The 2009 Clinical Laboratory Collaborative will be hosted at the Mayo Civic Center May 4th-6th. We are currently looking for volunteers willing to share their time and expertise to assist in the planning of this collaborative event.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Linda Iverson or Julie Freidhoff. Doing so will ensure that you are included in all e-mail communications. Please include the following information:

  • The type of involvement you are interested in
  • Which sub-committee you would like to serve on

If you have any questions regarding the volunteering opportunities available, please contact Julie Freidhoff or see below.

The first planning meeting is scheduled for September 9th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Rochester Methodist Hospital Dining Room 6. Visit the CLC 2009 Homepage for more details. We hope to see you there!

Volunteer Opportunities

Types of involvement that are available:

  1. Member of the full planning committee and therefore one of the subcommittees

This involves an evening meeting in Rochester on the first Tuesday of each month  beginning in August 2008 through June of 2009. Followup assignments of varying intensity and duration may occur throughout that timeframe. Meetings will formally start at 6:30 PM and generally last one hour. Pre-meetings of subcommittees may be held sometime between 5:30-6:30 PM when indicated. Dinner will be served.

  2. Assist a subcommittee or the full planning committee with assignments throughout the planning cycle on an as needed basis

Does not involve a monthly meeting. Allows you to decide if the proposed task fits your schedule and interests.

  3. Available to assist immediately before and during the actual meeting

Reserves your participation until the time immediately before and during the meeting. Examples could include working at the registration desk, introducing speakers, tallying speaker evaluations, helping orchestrate a social event, etc. etc. etc.

  4. Provide speakers for the meeting program

The program for this meeting involves almost 60 presentations including  keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and roundtable discussions. A broad selection of topics is preferred. If you are aware of a speaker and a topic that might be of interest to others attending the meeting, the Program committee would like to hear your ideas. If the speaker you suggest is selected, you would generally be asked to continue as the contact person for that speaker throughout the planning cycle. Most of the interaction is done by e-mail and directions for this involvement would be provided. (Submit your suggestions at any of the planning meetings or by sending an e-mail to Jo Trachy.)
